A Sunday Afternoon Of Italian Wine From Wine Passionate

Everyone knows how much I love to buy wine. There are an abundance of online wine retailers that I purchase from regularly and I am discovering more and more everyday. I have noticed in the past several months, there have been new online wine stores popping up. I was recently contacted by a gentleman in regards to a new online wine retailer called Wine Passionate in regards to sampling some of their wines and talking about their new online store with my readers. I enthusiastically accepted. I was later sent two of the Italian wines that they carry in their online wine shop, a Pandiani 2010 Aglianico and a La Sala Campo All’Albero 2007 Cabernet Sangiovese.

Wine Passionate specializes in selling imported wines from Italy, Chile, and Argentina at everyday prices. You can find everything from reds, whites, sparkling wines, to everyday drinking wines as well as finer wines for special occasions. Wines range in price anywhere from $9 up to $53 with something for everyone.

A couple weeks had passed since receiving the wines and I was looking for a good occasion to open them. I really don’t need a special occasion to enjoy wine as long as I have good food and company to enjoy it with. I invited my good friend Claire over for a late Sunday brunch at my house where we would enjoy the wines. Good thing Claire loves wine and is always up for trying something new! We had a wonderful spread of homemade goodies and started with some sparkling wine, then later tasted the wines. The first wine that we tasted was the La Sala Campo All’Albero 2007 Cabernet Sangiovese.

The La Sala Campo All’Albero 2007 Cabernet Sangiovese is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Sangiovese and is classified as a Super Tuscan. In the glass, the wine pours a deep, purple color with long legs revealed upon swirling the wine in the glass. On the nose you get a lot of complexity with earth, spice, cedar, mushroom, oak, tobacco, and dark fruits. Dark fruits such as blackberries and cassis caress the palate with a finish of delicate spice. This wine showed better on the second day with the fruit being more pronounced. This wine paired well with my homemade beef empanadas. This wine will pair wonderfully with other red meat dishes as well as duck. The wine sells for $46 on the website. Now on to the Pandiani 2010 Aglianico.

I am especially excited about the Pandiani 2010 Aglianico because Aglianico is a grape that I do not have much experience with and I am always enthusiastic in trying more wines that I am not as familiar with. This wonderful wine hails from Sicily and made by the Pandiani family. The wine poured a lovely, deep ruby red color in the glass. The nose was brimming with aromas of plums, blackberries, earth and cocoa. Abundant flavors of plums and cassis cover the palate with hints of vanilla and licorice. The wine finishes with a trace of chocolate and coffee. Another example of a complex wine but beautifully balanced. This wine is well suited for lamb and veal dishes. This wine sells for $12.40 on the website. An excellent price for a wine this delicious.

Both these wines are examples of the delicious wines you will find on Wine Passionate. For those of you looking to try some great new wines from the various wine-producing regions in Italy, Chile, and Argentina, this site is for you. You will find a wide selection on interesting, new wines to try at prices that are affordable.

Be sure to check out their website to see all of the wines they offer. They also feature a selection of wines that are half price. You can also connect with Wine Passionate on Twitter and Facebook.

Special thank you to the people at Wine Passionate for inviting me to taste some of the wines that they offer. Until the next time…

*These wines were provided as media samples for review.
